End of First Semester Message to the Scholars

February 6,2015

Dear Scholars,

The end of a semester is always something to look forward to for the Board of Directors and the staff at The Sunlad Simpex Educational Scholarships Foundations Inc. We are happy to see the students we are supporting grow as individuals. We are proud of every scholar’s accomplishments and look forward to your using the strong foundation that we have laid out for you as you move forward with your studies.

I am grateful to our Chairman, Mr. Ernesto G. Ladrido Jr. for his continued support to keep the foundation stronger than ever. I would also like to take the opportunity to especially mention how thankful I am to our Foundation’s Directors, Ms. Stephannie L. Concepcion for generously providing us with our official Scholarship shirts which I hope you have all received from now. I am also grateful to our faculty and university contacts, our student facilitators, and the staff of our foundation and for the parents of our scholars for all their hard work and commitment to making our goals possible.

It is really gratifying to see how many of you dedicate your time and effort to sharing your personal experiences to the foundation. I am also very grateful to all those who engage in so many ways- speaking during scholar’s meetings, mentoring fellow scholars, providing support and counseling to others by sharing their personal stories and self realizations and reflections. In Visayas, feedback from our scholars is that their monthly student meetings and activities are an important source of strength and support as our scholars enjoy forging relationships with their fellow foundation scholars and receive a lot of encouragement out of the exchange. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of our Visayas region facilitator, Ms. Camille Matta for making these activities possible. As for our Luzon scholars, all of us from the foundation are still trying to work out a system by which you can also establish rapport and share insight with your fellow scholars. I do hope you cooperate with us when we have an activity or session to which we will require your attendance and participation.

I have said many times that the true measure of an Educational and Scholarship’s greatness and achievements is the success of their recipients- not just in their academic standing, but in their community presence and involvement and in their personal lives. During the end of the First Semester of the School Year 2014-2015, I would like to say that I had the opportunity to see this for myself when I received report that nine of our scholars were able to make it to the Dean’s List and aside from that, ranking top of their class in their perspective courses.

Allow me to specifically mention the following:

joshua    Joshua Robert Dejapa- 2nd Year B.S. in Accountancy from The University of San Agustin who ranked 1st from his class

glia    Glia Galve- 1st year B.S. in Accountancy from The University of the Philippines for making it to the Dean’s List (no ranking system applicable in the school

These nine scholars are being recognized by The Sunlad-Simpex Educational Scholarships Foundation for their hard-work, academic achievements and zeal for greatness that have made it possible for them to make it to the First Semester’s Dean’s List- they are individuals who have made and are continuing to make their mark by being examples not just in their Universities but also in the Foundation because of their success. May they serve as inspirations to all of us and role models for our scholars- and a great source of pride for the Foundation. These individuals are clearly involved in promoting and nurturing our legacy and it is important that you, our scholars follow their example and see the triumph of these individuals to gain insights into what has made them successful. And, most important, you need to know that success is possible for you as well.

I am hopeful many of you will continue to become involved with your studies and in your communities. It truly makes a world of difference. I do hope this list continues to grow as we move forward. To end this message, allow me to say that I hope your semester is off to a safe and successful start!

Yours in Spirit,
